BRS working president KTR spoke at a fireside chat during the NDTV Yuva Mumbai Chapter 2025 on Saturday, where he praised the passion and determination of Gen Z. He highlighted their role in standing up for important issues that directly affect society.
KTR cited an example from Hyderabad Central University, where Gen Z united to protect 400 acres of urban lung space marked as forest land. They opposed government plans to take over the area in the name of development and ensured the issue was addressed.
He said that Gen Z effectively used social media platforms to spread awareness and gather support. Their persistence was so strong that the Supreme Court of India issued orders to stop the state government from taking over the land.
KTR added that while social media is powerful, Gen Z should also step out and engage directly in matters that shape their future. He encouraged active participation in real-world issues beyond online campaigns.
When asked about the coolest politician who connects well with Gen Z, KTR named Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma. He said Sangma plays the guitar and comes across as a truly cool and relatable leader for the younger generation.
