Recently, a petition was filed in the High Court claiming that the allotment of 11 acres of land in Kokapet by the government to the BRS party during KCR’s tenure as the Chief Minister was illegal. Even though the said land does not have a title belonging to private individuals, the government allotted the land, and many have approached the court seeking to cancel the allotment.

Four residents of Secunderabad’s Hyder Basti filed this petition. On May 23, 2023, the then government issued an order allotting 11 acres (53,240 square yards) of land in Kokapet, Survey No. 239, 240, Gandipet Mandal, Rangareddy District, to the BRS party.
However, the petitioners claimed that they have ownership rights over the land and that it is unconstitutional for the government to allocate property that is not its own to BRS, even though there is no title on the disputed land. They stated that the land was inherited from their family owner, JM Ashokdutt.

Many disputes over these places are still pending in the Supreme Court. They mentioned that in 1950, the then Deccan (Nizam) Government of Hyderabad recognized Kokapet village as non-Khasla, meaning these lands cannot be considered government lands.
They argued that while these disputes continue, the government took this land from HMDA and allotted it to BRS without any title being registered. The next hearing has been postponed to today.
