High Court Dismisses Stay Petition of KCR, Harish Rao

Telangana High Court Kaleshwaram case

The Telangana High Court has heard the petition filed by former Chief Minister KCR and ex-minister Harish Rao challenging the Kaleshwaram commission report. On Friday, the court completed hearings and directed the petitioners to submit a counter within three weeks.

The court stated that there was no need for interim decisions. It noted that if the report had already been made public, it would have restrained the government. However, the ruling has been deferred for four weeks, and no stay was granted, causing disappointment to KCR and Harish Rao.

During the hearing, the Advocate General informed the court that the government plans to present the report in the Assembly and initiate action against those accused. He also mentioned there are six months before the report will be tabled.

The counsel representing KCR and Harish Rao argued for a stay, citing possible arrest and defamation caused by the report being shared with the media. The court also questioned whether punishment, if any, would be imposed before or after the report is tabled in the Assembly.

The Kaleshwaram project, constructed during the BRS government, developed cracks before the 2023 Assembly elections. Following Congress’ victory in Telangana, the PC Ghose Commission was formed. After 13 months, the commission submitted its report, naming KCR as the main accused, along with former ministers Harish Rao and Eatala.

The High Court reserved its ruling and granted the Advocate General a day’s time to respond on certain points before concluding the proceedings on Friday.
