
The Human Rights Commission has become serious regarding the Gulzar Houz fire accident. It has initiated suo moto action into the matter. It responded following various stories in media reporting about the lack of safety, electricity guidelines at the place of accident.
HRC ordered the related officials – CS, CP, Fire DG, TSSPDCL – to submit a report on the issue.

At least 17 were killed from a joint family in the accident that happened on early hours of Sunday. The rescue operations could not save the deceased as the entrances were too narrow. The fire broke out early in the morning, gutting the surrounding residential and commercial areas.
According to BJP Union Minister of state Kishen Reddy, the fire broke out in the first floor of a house where they ran a pearl business. The cause has been attributed to short circuit.

There have been allegations that the fire department didn’t act quickly to stop the damage. Later, there were allegations that the ambulances lacked proper equipment. The media has been reporting stories about how timely help would have saved lives and property. Eight children were among those killed in one of the biggest accidents in recent times.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and those who lost property.
