The much-awaited KBR flyover work is set to begin next month in February. The construction of several flyovers and underpasses around KBR Park in Hyderabad will start once the soil testing process is fully completed.
This major project is part of a city infrastructure drive led by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC. It aims to reduce traffic pressure across key junctions and improve daily travel for thousands of commuters.
Areas such as Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills Checkpost and Masab Tank will benefit from the new flyovers. Regular traffic snarls in these busy zones are expected to come down once the project becomes operational.
The Telangana government has approved Rs 1090 crore for building six flyovers and six underpasses. These will form a signal-free corridor that is designed to shorten travel time and improve traffic flow.
Earlier delays caused by land acquisition issues have now been addressed. Property owners are being compensated either through cash payments or transferable development rights TDR to move the project forward.
With soil tests almost complete, construction activity is now ready to begin. The authorities are preparing to start the groundwork next month as planned.
However there have been concerns about the impact of this development. Some groups worry that the project may affect wildlife and the overall ecological balance of the city.
