Everyone was nervous if the issue will have an impact on the Ruling Party Candidates’ prospects but at the end, the issue became inconsequential.
Telugu Desam Party Candidates cruised to a sensational victory in both the seats.
In the Krishna-Guntur MLC Seat, Alapati Raja registered a win with a Record Majority of 82,320 Votes. The Majority of another TDP Candidate Perabattula Rajasekharam is 77,461 in the Godavari district’s MLC seat.
Back then, when the Group II issue happened, there was a talk the protesting people were a small minority who did not qualify for the Mains Exam and all that they wanted is to get the notification canceled. So that they can take another shot.
Probably, that is true as reflected by these majorities.
Previously, Government Employees used to vote more in the Graduates MLC Elections and TDP would often even fear to contest these elections as that section is often perceived to be anti-TDP
But now, all the five MLC Seats (Uttarandhra, Godavari district, Krishna – Guntur, East Rayalaseema, and West Rayalaseema) in Graduates Category covering the entire state are with the TDP now.
