It is not uncommon for political parties to use super hit film songs for their electoral campaigns. The lyrics of the songs are often modified for political reference. But prior permission needs to be taken from the music label that owns the audio rights of the song. Sadly for Congress chief, Rahul Gandhi, he got to learn it the hard way.
The Bengaluru police have now booked a case against Rahul Gandhi under copyright infringement for using KGF songs for his ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.
MRT Music label who own the audio rights of KGF 2 have now filed a police complaint against Rahul, saying he used the film’s songs without their consent.
“However the Indian National Congress has picked up the songs from this movie and without seeking MRT Music’s permission/license in any manner whatsoever has used these songs to create their marketing videos of their very latest Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign featuring Rahul Gandhi” the media communication from the music label read.
Rahul is now in legal soup over a petty reason that could’ve been avoided. Maybe his team instructed him to use KGF songs which are largely popular across the nation. But they missed the most important part – acquiring the permission for it.
