Sajjala Bhargava headed the YSR Congress Party’s social media wing until the 2024 elections. After the party’s major defeat, many within blamed both Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and his son Bhargava for the setback.
Bhargava stayed away from public view after the loss. He has been dealing with several legal cases since then. Now, two years into Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure, Jagan Mohan Reddy is looking to revive the party’s digital presence.
Sources say Bhargava will return to a key role, but with a twist. This time, he won’t lead the party’s social media directly. Instead, he’ll take charge as Sakshi’s Digital Media Head, overseeing digital content for both the TV channel and the newspaper.
The move gives him a legal shield under the banner of the press, making it easier to handle future cases or scrutiny. Essentially, he’ll still guide the YSR Congress’s digital narrative just with added legal protection and distance.
Bhargava is also expected to shift base to Hyderabad, which seems wise given the political climate in Andhra Pradesh. While this protects him, it raises questions about other social media workers who lack such backing.
After the 2024 loss, reports suggested Jagan was unhappy with Bhargava’s work. But his reappointment shows that trust remains. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy continues to hold influence within the party, though he has kept a lower media profile since the change in government.
Both father and son seem to have waited for the anger within the YSR Congress cadre to cool down before stepping back into action.
