Tamil Nadu politics have been replicating a Hollywood political thriller when it comes to twists and turns. This is all due to the fact that Thalapathy Vijay who is leading the biggest party TVK was unable to gather the required 118 seats to form the government.
This has been the point of discussion in Tamil Nadu since May 4 after the results were announced as Vijay did everything in his power to take charge as the CM.
We have now arrived at a point where there are endless debates on social media about speculations of Vijay being unable to prove the major majority. It was even reported that a potential alliance between DMK and AIDMK could also form the government.
But now the latest developments are suggesting that Vijay has managed to secure the unconditional support of the left parties CPI and CPM. This would bring his party strength to 116 (107 TVK+ 5 Congress + CPI 2+ CPM 2).
Now Vijay needs the support of VCK, which is also confirmed and this party has 2 MLAs on its side. This would collectively take the strength of the TVK alliance to 118 which is enough to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
The magic figure has been confirmed, and the only thing pending now is the appointment of Vijay as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, which could be a formality after the governor approves.
But for now, Vijay will have to get the assurance from the governor about the formation of the government, and that can be possible if he submits 118 MLAs signatures to the governor.
