YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said he will start his padayatra after one and a half years. He told party leaders that three years remain before the Assembly elections. He said the timing suits his political plan.
Jagan said the padayatra will last for one and a half years. During this period, he plans to travel across Andhra Pradesh. He said the aim is to stay on the road and connect directly with people.
He said this decision was taken because of what he called red book governance by the ruling party. Jagan claimed the present leaders believe they can do anything. He said his march will challenge that attitude.
Jagan had earlier spoken about doing another padayatra. Media had asked him about dates before. He had avoided giving a timeline and said he would act when the time was right.
This fresh announcement has pleased his party workers. The timing is seen as strategic. Jagan wants to meet voters well before the Assembly elections and rebuild his ground support.
However, announcing the plan so early has surprised many. Analysts in Andhra Pradesh feel Jagan is expecting a situation similar to Yuva Galam led by Nara Lokesh. That campaign helped the TDP win the 2024 elections.
They point out that the ruling party is currently leading with its industrial policy and welfare schemes. Leaders like Chandrababu, Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan are also drawing attention. This has strengthened the government’s image.
Political observers say Jagan may have announced the padayatra to divert focus from Davos. Chandrababu and Lokesh are getting wide national and international coverage there. They question whether local politics can match that global attention.
