Delhi missing persons data

Cities like Delhi thrive on diversity and constant movement. Yet, beneath the daily rush, public safety remains a fragile concern. Recent police data highlights how quickly vulnerabilities can escalate.

In the first 15 days of January 2026, 807 people were reported missing in Delhi. This averages to nearly 54 disappearances every day. The figures have raised serious alarm.

Women and girls accounted for the majority of cases at 509. This included 363 adults and 146 minors. In comparison, 298 men were reported missing during the same period.

Among 191 missing minors, 169 were teenagers. This group included 138 girls and 31 boys. Girls faced the highest untraced rate at nearly 71 percent.

So far, police have traced only 235 individuals. A total of 572 people remain unaccounted for. This includes 435 adults and 137 minors.

The trend is not limited to 2026. In 2025 alone, over 24,500 missing cases were reported. Of these, 9,087 remain unresolved.

Over the past decade, Delhi has recorded 232,737 missing person reports. These numbers point to deeper structural issues. Urban migration, family disputes, and trafficking risks are key concerns.

Young women remain the most vulnerable group. While Delhi Police continue their efforts, prevention needs stronger focus. Community alerts and faster response systems are essential.

Improved helplines and technology driven tracking can help reduce cases. Coordinated action must replace reactive measures. Ensuring safety in the capital demands urgency and accountability.
