The hustle culture has been the topic of many debates in recent times. Whether you appreciate it or criticize, you can’t deny it is changing lives very fast even if in a bad way. Cricket was a summer sport when it started gaining popularity but it feels like cricketers these days have as many match days as any corporate worker has work days.

India is still trying to take in all the glory that the Indian team achieved in Barbados but the BCCI believes it’s over and we need to shift our focus to another series. Yes it’s true that India is already playing another cricket series against Zimbabwe starting this Saturday.

The cramped cricket schedule prepared for the team by the BCCI makes us wonder if the board only wants revenue and hence holds as many matches in a month as possible. However, this is definitely not good for the game of cricket.

Cricket matches used to be grand affairs which excited the whole nation. If matches are played everyday, it loses a lot of value and becomes a part of everyday life. This is bad for revenue as well because if fans start losing interest in the game, the ad revenues are going to sharply fall.

The BCCI is pitching an almost completely different team against Zimbabwe and having so many young talented individuals allows them to do so. But the board needs to think about the long term results of these policies.
