There has been a sharp increase in scams using deepfakes and other AI tools to try and cheat people out of their money. These scams often feature prominent public figures like Virat Kohli, Mukesh Ambani and even Cristiano Ronaldo.
A shocking recent report by CloudSEK reveals that over 1000 phishing domains are created each day to scam people in countries like India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Most of these scams work by altering footage of famous news anchors or local and international celebrities to endorse shady gambling apps.

These gambling apps like ‘Aviator’ give users the fake promise of multiplying their investment several folds, which often leads to people downloading these apps from untrusted sources closely mimicking the Google Play Store.
Such apps then prompt innocent users to top-up their accounts, mostly using untraceable payment methods like cryptocurrency.

These scams are not just limited to phishing individuals, but they also take part in various fraudulent activities by impersonating business executives.
