IND W vs NED W: One Sided, But Weaknesses Exposed

India Women celebrate win over Netherlands

India Women recorded their second successive victory in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding 95-run win over Netherlands Women. The result strengthened India’s position in the tournament and lifted the team to the top of the group standings on net run rate.

Netherlands Women won the toss and chose to bowl first. India Women made full use of the batting-friendly conditions and posted an imposing total of 209/5 in 20 overs. The bowlers then completed the job by dismissing Netherlands Women for 114 in 17.3 overs.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma provided India with an excellent start at the top of the order. Mandhana played a fluent knock of 74 runs from 47 balls, while Shafali contributed 55 from 38 deliveries. Their partnership laid the foundation for a big total.

India continued to score at a brisk pace through the middle and death overs. Richa Ghosh added valuable late runs and remained unbeaten on 20 from just 8 balls. Her quick cameo helped India cross the 200-run mark and put additional pressure on the opposition.

In reply, Netherlands Women struggled to build momentum during the chase. Wickets fell regularly, preventing any meaningful partnerships from developing. The required run rate continued to rise, making the task increasingly difficult for the batting side.

Babette de Leede was the top scorer for Netherlands Women with 28 runs. However, no other batter managed to cross the 30-run mark. The team was eventually bowled out for 114, falling well short of the target.

Shree Charani delivered an impressive performance with the ball and claimed four wickets. Shafali Verma also made an impact by taking three wickets. Nandini Sharma picked up two wickets, while Deepti Sharma contributed with one dismissal.

Despite the convincing victory, India Women will be concerned about the form of Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. Harmanpreet scored 12 runs, while Jemimah managed 19. The team will hope both experienced batters regain form ahead of the tougher matches in the competition.
