
The IPL was progressing at a very good pace before it was suspended for a few days due to the prevailing situation between India and Pakistan, which is a completely understandable reason.
And then, when it was communicated that this season would restart, things weren’t looking as promising as the momentum and impetus were lost. More importantly, people had more concerning things to bother about like the borderland situation.

And as expected, the restart for the IPL has not been the most interesting one. The first game between Bengaluru and Kolkata, which had a lot riding, and it was sadly cancelled due to rain.
This is now followed by a couple of non-mainstream clashes between teams like Punjab, Rajasthan, and Delhi and Gujarat.

After the suspension and subsequent restart, the natural expectation was that a few high profile games would bring the momentum back. But there is nothing of this sort that is happening.
IPL badly needs a top team like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, to provide a trademark thriller. This is the only way of people will give the attention back to IPL. Or else, these low profile clashes between teams with no clout will not generate anything.

The IPL will truly restart only after Chennai and Mumbai provide adequate momentum. Same with RCB as well. These are the teams that generate attention, regardless of the table, positioning or playoff outcome.
But as of now, the IPL restart has initiated on a very dull note.
