India and Meta are indeed building a sour relationship, as Meta-owned WhatsApp has taken action against over 70 lakhs accounts in response to the new IT rule of 2021.
The reports state that 7,420,748 accounts were banned on the platform in August over accusations of ‘bad’ accounts. Approximately 3,506,905 of these accounts were banned proactively, prior to receiving any reports from users.
“Accounts Actioned” represents cases in which WhatsApp responded to user reports by either taking corrective measures, such as suspending an account, or reinstating a previously banned account.
“This user safety report provides information about the complaints received from users, the actions WhatsApp has taken in response, and our proactive efforts to address abuse on our platform,” as explained by the company.
WhatsApp is introducing a convenient reply bar feature, allowing users to respond quickly to images, videos, and GIFs. This feature will be accessible when viewing these media in a chat after updating to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.20.20 from the Google Play Store, as reported by WABetaInfo.
