In today’s world where reliable information is efficiently available at any given moment, the giant that has ruled this sector of technology and data is Google. Their search engine is so well optimised that just after the rise of the internet within the first decade Google became the clear winner as the most reliable and most used search engine along with their browser Chrome. The gap between Google and its competitors has become so huge that in today’s world, it seems almost impossible to replace this giant from its throne.
But this monopoly comes with some cons for the users. Google has always claimed that they don’t collect the users’ data to push content even on sensitive topics like elections. Though the recently leaked documents of Google clearly show how they not only collect but also use the users’ data to rank webpages in Search.
This push of content might change someone’s view or create a new one as they will mostly form their opinions based on the data presented in the first 2 pages of the Search. According to Rand Fishkin, an SEO expert, the 2,500 pages of documents reveal information about Google’s search API.
