Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently made his first tweet in 11 years, using a Spiderman meme to indirectly announce the launch of Thread, a Twitter alternative. Threads enable users to post up to 500 characters and offer several features similar to Twitter.
Threads, developed by Meta, is a new microblogging social media platform challenging Twitter. Within two hours of its launch, Threads already gained over two million users. Mark Zuckerberg predicts it will become the leading public conversation app with over one billion users.
While Mark Zuckerberg is very confident about ‘Threads’, some users are experiencing difficulties loading Zuckerberg’s posts on the newly launched Threads app. They receive a “content not available” message when accessing his profile. However, five of his posts are still visible on the web version of his profile.
Mark Zuckerberg expressed his belief that Threads has the potential to become a public conversations app with over one billion users, surpassing Twitter. He mentioned that Twitter had the opportunity but failed to achieve this. The launch of Threads has received positive feedback online, with one person considering it a much-needed competitor to Twitter.
