Twitter Sees Lower Engagement! Doom Approaching?

Twitter Sees Lower EngagementTwitter’s traffic has taken a nosedive as its rival Threads gains astronomical popularity, and it seems like Elon Musk’s management style is partly to blame. Ever since Musk acquired Twitter, people have been skeptical about his leadership, leading to eminent personalities like Elton John and Jim Carrey quitting the platform altogether. The recent outage on July 1, where thousands of users reported problems retrieving tweets, only added fuel to the fire. Musk’s impulsive decision-making and disregard for user opinions have hampered the platform’s growth and popularity, causing a drop in traffic.

Cloudflare’s CEO recently shared a graph on Twitter and Threads, illustrating Twitter’s declining DNS ranking throughout the year. Coincidentally, Twitter’s lowest point coincides with the launch of Threads, Instagram’s new rival. While Twitter now ranks 37th, Threads has gained over 50 million users in just 24 hours and 97 million users in a week. Shareholders are undoubtedly concerned and may hold Musk accountable for this decline.

Adding to the drama, Twitter has threatened to sue Meta, accusing them of misappropriating trade secrets and intellectual property. The battle between the companies has spilled over to the CEOs as well. Musk challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a “cage match,” prompting Zuckerberg’s response of “Send Me Location.” The two have been exchanging insults, with Musk referring to Zuckerberg as a “cuck” and Zuckerberg trolling Musk with one-word replies on Threads.

It seems like Musk’s reign as the Twitter overlord is facing challenges from all sides. Whether he can turn things around and regain the platform’s former glory remains to be seen. For now, Twitter’s traffic continues to plummet, and the saga between Musk and Zuckerberg continues to unfold, providing ample entertainment for the rest of us.
