Ruchika Gujjar Trolled at Cannes 2025 for Modi Necklace

In a shocking turn of events, actress Ruchi Gujjar wore a necklace featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.

While many Indian stars have been gracing the prestigious celebration of cinema, she stood out for making a bold and controversial statement.

Model-actress Ruchi Gujjar turned heads in a striking ensemble that included the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of her jewellery.

Ruchi was seen in a stunning gold lehenga from the shelves of Roopa Sharma. Featuring intricate mirror work and delicate embroidery, the outfit beautifully showcased the regal artistry of Jaipur. She completed the look with a matching blouse that had a plunging neckline and detailed zardozi designs. A handcrafted dupatta by Ram of Zaribari added a final touch of elegance.

However, what truly got everyone on social media talking was the necklace featuring the Prime Minister.

While the actress stated that she wanted to honour the Prime Minister with this gesture, the move was widely mocked online.

Social media users pointed out that Cannes is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, and pulling stunts like this not only makes her look foolish but also reflects poorly on the entire country.

Others commented that while her overall look and vision may have been good, the necklace with the PM’s face completely undermined the effort she put into her appearance.

Regardless of political leanings, people seemed to agree that her decision was misguided and made India look bad on a global platform.

Some users also noted the irony, pointing out that the same Modi government she was so eager to honour hasn’t shown much support for Indian films at Cannes.

Ruchi may have thought she was doing something bold and meaningful, but the gesture backfired miserably, especially on an international stage like the Cannes Film Festival.
