Mannat, a heritage property built in 1914 and spread over 27,000 sq ft, is being renovated for two years and has plans to add two more floors to the existing six-storey annexe.
SRK and his family have shifted to a nearby residence temporarily.

The renovation had got the nod from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) and SRK’s team claims all permissions are in place and work is going as per rules.
His manager Pooja Dadlani said there are no complaints and all documents will be submitted for scrutiny.

The inspection team included officials from BMC’s H-West ward building and factory departments who accompanied the forest department but clarified they had no role in the investigation.
A report will be prepared and submitted soon and notices will be issued if violations are found.
The controversy also involves allegations by former IPS officer and lawyer Y P Singh who highlighted historical and legal issues with the property’s layout.
He said an extension built in 2005, originally approved as 12 small independent flats under urban land regulations, was merged into a super luxury single-family accommodation, potentially violating heritage and planning norms.
Activist Santosh Daundkar had filed a complaint regarding CRZ violations earlier and this is the result.
This has raised questions on heritage conservation, urban planning and environmental compliance in Mumbai’s prime coastal areas.
Wait for the official report to be out.
