Why Aamir Not Following SRK’s Trick for Success?

Aamir Khan

At a recent event, Aamir Khan opened up about his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par and how he isn’t chasing blockbusters anymore—he’s chasing change.

After Laal Singh Chaddha’s underwhelming performance, Aamir revealed many industry voices pushed him towards safer bets—larger-than-life action films like Pathaan or Jawan that would guarantee theatrical pull. But Aamir refused to play by Bollywood’s commercial rulebook, and what followed is in front of us.

“This story is in my blood,” stated Aamir, explaining why Sitaare Zameen Par matters more to him than any other quick-success formulas.

The film revolves around the lives of neurodivergent children and how they’re systematically excluded from all institutions, further widening the gap between their normal and ours.

In the interview, Aamir emphasized the importance of inclusivity and the urgent need for Indian schools to embrace children from all backgrounds in mainstream education, including those with intellectual disabilities.

According to him, segregating neurodivergent children into special schools robs them of the shared experiences and social interactions with children within the same age group. Moreover, it robs the neurotypical, or the so-called “normal,” kids from learning empathy and compassion.

“We need to build a society where every child is valued,” he says, calling for a collective rethinking of how India treats those born “a little different.”

While critics continue to troll Aamir for his previous choices, many stand strong behind him for his passion to bring about change.

For an industry obsessed with box-office numbers, Aamir is betting on humanity instead. And if Sitaare Zameen Par is half as powerful as Aamir’s conviction, it might just be the film that starts discussions and brings about real change.
