Dhurandhar 2 is all set to hit screens next month. The first film made headlines for strong performances by the lead cast. Its intense action sequences and heavy violence also sparked wide discussion.
With violent content becoming more common in Indian cinema, a fresh debate has emerged. Varun Gupta, founder of Max Marketing, recently shared his views. He was closely involved in marketing the first Dhurandhar film.
Varun Gupta dismissed the idea that gore alone sells films today. In a recent interview, he said that if violence were the only factor, many films would blindly follow the same formula. According to him, audiences are smart enough to judge intent.
Gupta explained that viewers can sense when violence lacks purpose or emotion. He believes such films fail to leave an impact. Emotional depth still matters more than shock value.
He also compared Dhurandhar with Animal, stating that both films operate on different concepts. One explores a father and son bond, while the other is a spy thriller. Removing emotion from either would weaken the film.
Gupta added that if makers focus only on violence, the film would not work. He stressed that storytelling must lead the action. Violence should support the narrative, not replace it.
Despite its violent scenes, Dhurandhar avoided major controversy. This was unlike reactions faced by films such as Animal and Marco. Many viewers felt the gore was justified within the story.
Netizens pointed out that the violent scenes were written with intent. They believe the film would lose impact without those moments. Context played a key role in audience acceptance.
Meanwhile, a section of viewers is excited about Toxic, expecting high levels of violence. At the same time, Ranveer Singh’s fans feel the sequel will push limits further. They believe Dhurandhar 2 could become a bigger blockbuster.
As the release approaches, buzz around the film continues to grow. It remains to be seen whether Dhurandhar 2 will be remembered more for its violence or its story and screenplay.
