Post-Adipurush debacle, Prabhas is now coming up with the most-awaited Salaar directed by Prashanth Neel. The film was slated for release on September 28. However, the film recently got postponed due to reasons unknown, as there has been no official statement from the makers.
Because of Salaar’s postponement, many films in Tollywood and from various other industries, including Bollywood and Tamil, reshuffled their release dates. Salaar’s postponement has also caused mayhem among the Telugu Sankranti 2024 releases.
But does Salaar justify such hype and mayhem caused due to its postponement? Sometimes, it feels like there’s no point in being so scared of a Prabhas film these days because all of his films post-Baahubali have crashed after the first weekend.
After Baahubali, no film of Prabhas has achieved break even. After the opening weekend, Saaho, Radhe Shyam, and Adipurush all incurred huge losses to the makers.
Without the Rajamouli factor, it’s all just about the opening weekend and then crashing down big time for Prabhas’ films for the last 5-6 years, which isn’t a healthy sign for a pan-India superstar like Prabhas.
The makers and distributors were always given this hope of getting returns in a huge way with Prabhas’ films, but they usually end up far behind the break-even mark.
Undeniable Prabhas is one of the biggest pan-India heroes, but he is not able to justify the high budgets, remunerations, hype, and exorbitant distribution rights.
Let’s hope Salaar delivers big, whenever it releases, and turns out to be the big hit that a star like Prabhas deserves.
