Govts Must Bring Rajamouli

The cinema ticket pricing model that is in effect in the Telugu states is rather a volatile subject now. Of late, big hero films have been releasing with sky-high prices in the domestic markets.

In the case of Pushpa 2, this is the first time that a film’s price is officially permitted to be over Rs 1000. This happening for the paid premieres of the film. The first weekend prices are also pretty high.

The prices of Devara and Kalki have also been pretty substantially high at the multiplexes in the urban pockets.

After watching what’s happening, there is an ongoing commotion in the Telugu social media space as people are pushing to have an exclusive taxing model only for SS Rajamouli.

Rajamouli is the only director who is delivering products that require high prices. The kind of production values, star cast, and grandeur in the making validates the subsequent ticket pricing. Not that other films are lacking outrightly, but the Rajamouli standards are hard to meet.

As things stand, Rajamouli is the only director who is consistently making spectacle films that potentially require high prices. But the latest trend is that every big hero film is arriving at high prices.

In this view, there is a commotion to bring a regulation that Rajamouli-only hikes must start to be rolled out soon, which gives the cushion only for this director. Rest all of the films must be permitted the hikes only based on the merit and budgeting. This commotion is evidently from the money-paying audience point of view.
