Kiran Abbavaram recently sat down with Tamil critic Bharadwaj Rangan and openly expressed his deep disappointment over the lack of theatrical support for his recent film KA. He revealed that the film did not even get a handful of theatres in Chennai. More importantly, he clarified that his disappointment wasn’t about the KA Tamil version not getting enough screens, but about not getting even a few theatres for the Telugu version in Chennai.
His comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing strong support from many and sparking conversations about the Tamil industry’s bias toward Telugu films.
A day later, Ravi Shankar from Mythri Movie Makers attended the press event of the Tamil film Dude and added more confusion to the situation. He said that if Kiran delivers a hit, he would offer their theaters for his K-RAMP. This statement created a buzz because Kiran’s point was entirely different. While Kiran was talking about the lack of fair theatrical space for Telugu films in Chennai, Mythri Ravi’s comment seemed to shift the conversation toward opportunities in Telugu states, which wasn’t the issue Kiran raised.
In an exclusive interview with M9 News, Kiran expressed his displeasure over the way his statement was misread, without naming anyone directly. He urged people on social media and others involved not to twist his concerns.
Kiran went on to explain that he has worked hard to get where he is today, and whatever he achieves in the future will be because of that hard work. He strongly objected to people tagging him as someone who banks on sympathy, calling it completely inappropriate.
Looking at the entire episode, Kiran Abbavaram has a valid point. His statement gained good support, but it was followed by unnecessary confusion after the comments from the Mythri Ravi, eventually turning into a heated topic on social media. Kiran ended up requesting everyone not to associate or tag him with the so-called “sympathy factory.”
In the end, Kiran knows that everything comes down to how his film K-RAMP performs. The competition is intense, with several releases clashing the screen space. Now, all eyes are on whether Kiran can rise above these pre-release debates and prove himself with the film’s performance.
