Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming action drama ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ received an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board. The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 22 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The certification comes with a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes, featuring intense fight sequences and violent scenes.
Notably, the movie is divided into two uneven halves, with the first lasting 1 hour 10 minutes and the second around 1 hour 45 minutes. There are speculations that Prabhas would make his entry a bit late in the film around the interval time which was also hinted in the trailer.
There have been concerns about the film being too lengthy, especially in the second hour. Recently we have seen Animal had a very stretched and below-par second half which brought down the overall impact of the film.
Animal still did blockbuster business which is a different issue as the audience got intrigued by Ranbir’s eccentric antics. But not every film is that lucky to get away with a long and stretched second half.
The lengthy second half of Salaar should be very engaging and hard-hitting without too many lags. As this is the first part of the Salaar series, there are chances after watching the climax the audience might feel they sat for 3 hours and still didn’t get that feel of watching a complete film.
Prashanth Neel is walking on a tightrope and there is not much space for him to go wrong. He is one of the brightest talents among the new generation of directors and there is a hope that despite all these concerns he will still deliver a kickass film with Salaar.
