Why Are Those Two Batches Ignoring Adipurush?

Two Batches Ignoring AdipurushAdipurush is headed for a smashing start at the box office in a few hours. The film is posting excellent advance bookings in the Telugu states, the north belt, and also doing reasonably well overseas.

However, there are two markets – one significant and one no too substantial that are ignoring Adipurush.

The first is the Tamil market. Adipurush is posting negligible numbers at the USA box office for the Tamil version. The film hasn’t even sold mention worthy number of ticket there.

Even in the domestic Tamil market in Tamil Nadu, the bookings are near negligible.

Then there’s the Malayalam market. This market is always a small one and not too much can be expected from here. However, in the case of Adipurush, a pan Indian film, the bookings are alarmingly low in the Mallu land as well.

Ramayan is based on the global theme of Ramayan and one would expect the film to have anticipation from the Indian folk. This is seen in most major markets. But Tamil and Malayalam markets have completely ignored the film.

A section of Telugu audience on social now are pushing a narrative that maybe it’s time to stop dubbing and releasing our films in these two markets, given the lack of interest from them for many Telugu films.
