
During the early 2010s, Pawan Kalyan faced a rough patch with flops like Puli, Panjaa, and Teen Maar. His fans were disheartened, watching their idol struggle to deliver a big hit.
Then came Gabbar Singh, directed by Harish Shankar, a remake of Salman Khan’s Dabanng. The film was a huge blockbuster, marking a magnificent comeback for Pawan Kalyan and bringing immense joy to his fans.

Currently, Ravi Teja finds himself in a similar situation. Out of his last 11 films, only Krack and Dhamaka have been hits. Now, he is set to star in Mr. Bachchan, directed by Harish Shankar, and a remake of Ajay Devgn’s 2018 film Raid. Ravi Teja is hopeful that Mr. Bachchan will be his Gabbar Singh.
However, there are significant differences between the two scenarios.

Gabbar Singh was released within two years of the original Dabanng when the audience’s taste hadn’t changed much and remakes were more acceptable.
In contrast, Mr. Bachchan is releasing six years after Raid. The audience’s preferences have evolved significantly during this time, and in the post-Covid era, remakes are less appealing due to the rise of OTT platforms. We have seen many flops in TFI like Bholaa Shankar, Godfather, Hunt, and others.

It remains to be seen whether Mr. Bachchan will repeat the history of Gabbar Singh or succumb to the evolving tastes of the audience.
