Raghu Varma lost in Graduate Mlc Elections

PTRU Candidate Gade Srinivasulu Naidu won the Uttarandhra Teachers MLC Election. He won over his nearest rival, APTF candidate Pakalapati Raghu Varma in the Second Preference Votes.

TDP supported Raghu Varma while the BJP supported Gade Srinivasulu Naidu who won. Janasena also lent support to Raghu Varma after TDP entered the fray but it did not have any interest in this election.

It is not understandable why TDP entered this election which was supposed to be between the Teachers’ Association.

Nara Lokesh is the Education Minister. Supporting one candidate in this election means snubbing the other associations.

Whoever wins will naturally help the government in the council with all important issues. Hence, supporting a candidate does not bring in any advantage separately.

Raghu Varma is the sitting MLC and there was substantial anti-incumbency against him in the Teachers. Even then, TDP went ahead and supported him for the reasons best known to the party.

Now the party ended up on the losing side for no reason and in an election where it has no stakes.

The only respite is that there is no candidate on the party symbol.

Now even if TDP candidates win the two Graduate MLC seats, the Opposition will still have a chance to point fingers at this result which is totally unnecessary.

The counting is also underway in the two Graduates’ MLC Seats.

The counting is happening very slowly in the Godavari districts MLC Seat while TDP’s Alapati Raja is comfortably placed in the Krishna – Guntur MLC Seat.

PDF Candidate KS Lakshmana Rao was a four-time MLC. He was perceived to be a strong candidate. He received the support of Communists, Congress, and YSR Congress in this election. Everyone thought he would be a very formidable force and Alapati would face tough competition.

But for now, Alapati Raja looks comfortably placed. But then, MLC election counting is too complex and it is not over until it is over.

The counting of these two seats may extend until tomorrow too.
