Telangana Discontinues Police ‘Arogya Bhadratha’ Scheme From July 1

Telangana Police health scheme

The Telangana Police Department announced that the “Arogya Bhadratha” health scheme will be discontinued effective July 1, 2026. This decision, issued via an official circular from the Director General of Police (DGP) office, marks a significant shift in medical benefits for police families.

The termination follows the launch of the Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT), which automatically deducts 1.5% from the basic salary of all state employees. To avoid double-charging staff for two separate health schemes, the department stopped collecting monthly subscriptions for Arogya Bhadratha starting with June salaries.

Beyond the policy change, the older scheme faced severe financial pressure, processing nearly 3,000 monthly medical bills despite difficulties in securing government funds. Consequently, no new patients may join the Arogya Bhadratha scheme starting July 1.

Staff or family members admitted to corporate hospitals on or before June 30 will continue to receive free treatment until they are discharged. This transition remains a major point of discussion as the government aims to consolidate all state departments under a single health system.
