What Is the Film About?
The plot of Appudo Ippudo Eppudo revolves around how Rishi (Nikhil Siddhartha) makes his love life successful. In the process, he deals with a con woman and a subplot involving a villain and a murder he encounters. The story is about how he eventually overcomes these challenges, achieves success in love, and becomes wealthy.
Performances
Nikhil delivers his usual performance; there’s nothing to blame him for. However, although the majority of the film revolves around his character, Rishi, he doesn’t make anything stand out. Whether it’s his performance or screen presence, there are no standout moments. Overall, it’s a forgettable film and a forgettable performance from Nikhil.
There are two female characters in the film. The first is Rukmini Vasanth, who plays the female lead. She looks pretty on screen, and her presence is good. However, there isn’t much she can take away from the film or her character. The other character, played by Divyansha Kaushik is alright. Although her role isn’t lengthy, she does her job. And that’s about it.
Analysis
Appudo Ippudo Eppudo is directed by Sudheer Varma, who previously directed three of Nikhil’s films. This time, even on paper, he doesn’t have a script that excites you to sign the film. Only Nikhil should know what excited him—maybe it was the number of flashback episodes?
In the entire first half, there isn’t a single block that is either entertaining or engaging. As if the lifeless love track wasn’t enough, the silly villains appear randomly here and there.
A director like Sudheer Varma shot dumb scenes involving cops, where they catch Nikhil and Harsha Chemudu with a dead body in their car. Not very surprising, as everything is on a similar level with such extremely poor writing and direction.
When the first half is over, there is very little hope for a better second half, given the standard that has been set.
In the second half, story-wise, even though there is some progress, the dumbness persists. A con woman convinces herself, after looking at a photo frame, that Nikhil has hundreds of crores and decides to marry him. Later, she finds out that he isn’t that rich. The ideas taken and presented are so absurd, and it makes you laugh at the director’s conviction in the writing department or for approving such silly writing.
The heroine reveals that the hero married her in a drunk state, and the hero had no idea. This happens in a temple. Such scenes require the audience to pause their brains, stop thinking, and hopelessly wait for the movie to end.
Overall, Appudo Ippudo Eppudo is a painful, boring watch in theaters. At no point does the film offer any relief.
Performances by Others Actors
The film includes a few familiar faces, especially comedians. Comedian Satya is completely wasted, without a single scene that brings laughs, which is disappointing. Others, like Sudarshan and Harsha Chemudu, simply fill their roles without adding much humor—not their fault, but rather due to weak writing.
Ajay plays a typical villain, similar to roles he’s done before. Overall, the supporting cast does its job adequately, but no one adds any positive effect to the film. Again, this is more a result of dull character writing than their performances.
Music and Other Departments?
The songs by Karthik are completely below par. Even with visuals, they do not improve and add to the increasing boredom. As for the background score, Sunny M.R. does a fairly decent job.
Navin Nooli’s editing could have been much better; many scenes feel dragged, and the flow is often confusing. The cinematography is fine, and much of the film is shot in London, which gives it a visually appealing look typical of films set abroad.
The production values by SVCC are adequate.
Highlights?
Difficult to spot, even harder to experience.
Drawbacks?
Everything, almost.
Did I Enjoy It?
No, not even a little.
Will You Recommend It?
Not even remotely.
