Trouble may be brewing for couples ahead of Valentine’s Day in some parts of the country. In Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, a group warned that couples celebrating on February 14 could face action, creating concern among youngsters.
Members of the group were seen applying oil on sticks and calling Valentine’s Day a foreign culture. Warning letters were reportedly sent to hotels and restaurants, cautioning them against allowing couples to celebrate the occasion.
In Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, posters opposing Valentine’s Day appeared in public places. Some people were also seen worshipping sticks in a temple as a symbolic protest against the celebration.
These developments have created mixed reactions among people. While many youngsters feel worried and disappointed, some parents believe such actions may discourage unsafe behaviour among teenagers.
In several regions, discussions around love jihad cases have also contributed to social tension. Reports of young or minor girls being misled into relationships have raised concerns among families and communities.
At a young age, children may act without fully understanding consequences. Some hide information from parents or arrange money secretly for celebrations, which can create problems later.
Many believe love should be built on honesty, trust, and maturity rather than public display. Open communication within families can help young people make safer and more responsible choices.
