A quick-thinking Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer in Mumbai saved a 40-year-old man who fell into the gap between a moving train and the platform at Andheri railway station.
The incident, as captured on CCTV, took place as the passenger attempted to board the Lok Shakti Express while it was already in motion.
The passenger, identified as Rajendra Mangilal, was seen running with two bags and trying to catch the train on platform number eight.
In his haste, he lost his balance and slipped into the narrow space between the train and the platform. Assistant Sub-Inspector Pahup Singh, who was nearby, reacted immediately and pulled the man to safety within seconds.
A statement from railway officials confirmed that the man was unharmed and later expressed his gratitude to the RPF personnel for their timely intervention. This is not the first time the RPF has prevented such accidents.
Similar incidents have been reported at other stations, including a case in Tamil Nadu last year where another officer saved a passenger from falling under a train.
The authorities continue to urge passengers to follow safety guidelines and avoid risky attempts to catch departing trains.
The vigilance and swift action of railway personnel remain crucial in preventing such accidents and ensuring commuter safety, but the passengers should themselves be responsible for their conduct.
