TIME magazine has always been a benchmark for greatness, and in its latest edition, an Indian-American, Sneha Revanu, aged 18, is making waves not only through her significant contributions but also due to her age.
She is now the youngest individual on TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in AI. TIME published this list for the first time, recognizing the future influence of AI and intending to continue this tradition.
Revanu expressed deep gratitude, describing it as an incredible honor. They mentioned their admiration for many individuals on the list who had influenced and inspired their work over the years. According to Revanu, this recognition signifies the vital and legitimate role that youth play as stakeholders.
Despite her young age, Revanu has been involved in AI for a considerable time. She founded Encode Justice at the age of 15, making it the youngest activist group in the field of AI.
Four months ago, Encode Justice appealed to the US Congress, urging the establishment of an independent regulatory agency for AI oversight similar to the FDA. They emphasized the urgent need to address racial bias in AI, particularly in facial recognition systems used within the US criminal justice system.
