H-1B Scam: Shady US Job Ruins Applicant’s Future

One H-1B applicant got too honest for his own good during his visa interview, potentially destroying his dreams of ever entering the US.

The H-1B aspirant took to social media to share his ordeal at a Hyderabad consulate on July 18. When asked by the visa officer, he admitted he had paid a private consultancy to handle his H-1B process.

That was enough for the officer to hand him a 221 (g) white slip within seconds. There were no further instructions, no timeline, just silence.

For those unaware, you are not allowed to pay for your own H-1B filing. Under US law, the employer must cover those costs. So when someone says they paid for a consultancy, it raises serious doubts over the legitimacy of the job offer.

Netizens didn’t hold back as one of them brutally said, “Kiss goodbye to your US dreams.” Others asked for the consultancy’s name, hinting that this might be part of a wider visa scam already on the embassy’s radar.

The applicant still hoped he could switch to a student or tourist visa. However, once your H-1B is flagged like this, the chances of getting any other US visa are close to zero.

It’s a reminder that shady consultancies can ruin your life. If you’re paying for a job offer or a visa, you’re not buying a shortcut; you’re buying a rejection.
