
In 2020, Trump faced substantial opposition from Indian Americans due to his anti-immigration policies and perceived racism. However, recent dynamics show Trump gaining favor among this group. Following a recent rally attack on Trump, his path to the presidency appears to be gaining momentum.
However, among Indian Americans, Kamala Harris has got the lead.

Kamala Harris, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, is leading Donald Trump by 18 percentage points in favorability ratings among Indian Americans, according to a recent poll by Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVOTE).
The poll shows that 54% of Indian Americans view Kamala Harris favorably, compared to 35% for Trump. Harris also outperforms Nikki Haley, a fellow Indian American, by 21 percentage points among Indian Americans.

Only 46% of Indian Americans would vote for Biden if the election were today, while 29% would choose Trump. This marks a sharp decline from 2020 when 72% of Indian Americans supported Biden and 22% supported Trump.
For the upcoming Senate races, 55% of Indian Americans plan to vote for Democratic candidates, while 52% will support Democrats for the House of Representatives.

The Republican party has made some inroads, with 29% of Indian Americans planning to vote for Republicans in the Senate and 31% in the House.
The Indian American population in the US is between 4.16 million and 4.4 million, which is about 1.4% of the total US population of over 333 million.
Out of this, 2.62 million are US citizens and 1.9 million are registered voters, making up 0.82% of all registered voters in the country.
Despite their relatively small percentage, Indian Americans have a significant impact in swing states, which can decide elections by narrow margins.
The 2024 race between Harris and Trump is expected to be very close, and every vote will be crucial.
