Oumair Aejaz, an Indian origin former doctor from Michigan, has been sentenced to 35 to 60 years in prison after being found guilty of secretly recording women and children for years. He used his position as a doctor and his access to patients and families to commit the crime. The investigation began in 2024 when his wife reported him to police after discovering he had been secretly recording her, their children, and female relatives inside their home.
Aejaz was charged with 31 counts of sexual misconduct and later entered a no contest plea, meaning he did not admit guilt but accepted the punishment. As he was sentenced on December 2, several victims stood in the courtroom and bravely described how deeply his actions had affected their lives. Many cried as they spoke and called him a predator who used trust as a weapon.
The judge said Aejaz’s actions were shocking and beyond human understanding. She told him, you have damaged so many lives and all I can do is put you in prison. I wish I could do more. She made it clear that someone capable of such behavior did not deserve to be called a doctor or trusted with any responsibility.
The investigation showed that Aejaz had been recording victims for at least six years. When police searched his devices, they found six computers, four phones, and 15 hard drives, including one drive that contained over 13,000 videos. He recorded people in many locations, including Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills, hospital rooms, and even bedrooms. He reportedly hid small cameras in places like changing rooms, capturing both adults and children in vulnerable situations.
During the sentencing, one mother confronted him directly and said stop looking at the ground, you coward. You had the audacity to set up a camera and record parents and children while they were changing. Look at me when I speak to you. You know you are finished.
Aejaz remained silent in court and showed no reaction.
With the sentence now in place, victims say they hope to finally begin healing from the trauma caused by a man who misused trust, authority, and access in a deeply disturbing way.
