While certain Tamil critics, influencers, and even stars label the movie as overhyped and cringe-worthy, the Telugu audience contends that even renowned Tamil epics like Ponniyin Selvan can sometimes be tedious, with viewers sleeping off in theaters.

It’s noteworthy that Tamil cinema itself has witnessed the emergence of star-studded films that some consider cringe-worthy, such as “Bigil” and “Varisu.” This raises questions about the credibility of those pointing fingers at movies like “Animal” or “Hanu Man” as subpar or cringe.

For some, the success of “Animal” has triggered jealousy, leading to social media attacks on Sandeep Vanga. However, the film’s global recognition, its top position on Netflix worldwide, and its massive ₹900 Cr worldwide earnings speak volumes about its undeniable impact.

The main issue with the Tamil industry is that they don’t have many stars who can make their films popular across India, even though they have superior technicians and directors. They mostly rely on actors like Vijay, Ajith, Dhanush, and sometimes Siva Karthikeyan.

On the other hand, Telugu movies have lots of top-tier heroes who can make a mark not just in their region but also across India. For that matter, even tier-2 and tier-3 heroes in the Telugu industry have better reach than some of the biggest stars in Tamil.

Some critics and movie lovers in Tamil Nadu might be feeling a bit insecure about this, leading them to criticize movies like “Hanu Man” or “Animal.” But these films have proven themselves on a global scale, gaining popularity and praise beyond states.
