No Rights, No Remake? Rohit Shetty Under Scanner Again

Do Aur Do Paanch film rights notice

Soham Rockstar Entertainment has issued a public notice claiming complete rights over the 1980 film Do Aur Do Paanch, originally starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. The announcement has drawn attention across the film industry.

The company stated that it is the sole and exclusive negative copyright holder of the film. It also claimed ownership of all related intellectual property and derivative rights connected to Do Aur Do Paanch.

According to the notice, these rights include producing remakes, sequels, prequels, and adaptations in any language. The rights also extend to web series, stage plays, comics, and novelisations based on the film.

Soham Rockstar Entertainment warned that any unauthorised use of the content may lead to civil and criminal action. The firm statement highlights growing legal awareness around classic film properties.

The notice comes at a time when reports suggested Rohit Shetty may have drawn inspiration from the film for his upcoming Golmaal 5. The film is reportedly expected to feature Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar.

However, Rohit Shetty Picturez clarified that the upcoming film is neither a remake nor directly inspired by Do Aur Do Paanch. The clarification followed speculation across entertainment media.

The development has also revived conversations about Rohit Shetty’s recent films. While Simmba and Sooryavanshi performed well at the box office, later projects like Cirkus faced heavy trolling.

With audiences increasingly expecting original storytelling, references to older titles have become a sensitive topic. Even unofficial inspiration from classic films now attracts attention and debate.

Soham Rockstar Entertainment’s strong stand shows that legacy titles are being actively protected. For filmmakers, the situation highlights the importance of legal clarity along with creative originality.
