Following the trailer release of Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, Bollywood trade pages showed strong excitement. Many labelled it another feel good entertainer from Dharma Productions. Fans of the lead pair welcomed the trailer warmly.
At the same time, a section of the internet reacted with discomfort. Several users questioned Bollywood projecting Kartik as its next big star. The criticism focused less on the film and more on the actor’s growing positioning in the industry.
Some social media users described Kartik Aaryan’s performances as cringeworthy. They pointed to similar expressions and dialogue delivery across films. According to them, the issue persists regardless of genre, leading to fatigue among viewers.
One user accused Dharma Productions of aggressively pushing Kartik as a major success. They claimed the actor has not yet fully proven his acting range. This view gained traction among users already critical of star driven marketing.
Commentators also said Kartik has been typecast since entering Bollywood. They felt his roles show limited growth or screen presence. According to them, the actor has not broken away from familiar patterns.
Users noted that his earlier films like Pyaar ka Punchnama, Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 used his comic timing well. In recent projects, they feel he is reduced to playing visual appeal.
Another user said Dharma Productions needs reinvention. They urged the banner to make more grounded films like Homebound that reflect reality and carry strong social messaging. Many users agreed with this sentiment.
Several pointed out that Dharma has seen more failures than successes in recent years. Despite its legacy, users feel credibility alone is no longer enough. Some accused the studio of relying heavily on PR to sell average content.
This criticism reflects wider frustration among Bollywood audiences. Many feel production houses keep repeating faces and formulas. They believe profit safety has taken priority over creative risk and honest storytelling.
The industry, according to users, is stuck in a loop of safe narratives. Experimental ideas and moral depth appear sidelined. Media aware audiences continue to wait for cinema that challenges and engages them.
Despite the backlash, Kartik and Dharma are moving ahead with Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, slated for a Christmas 2025 release. Kartik reunites with Sameer Vidwans after Satya Prem Ki Katha. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Namah Pictures.
