The current phase of Koratala Siva’s career is truly disheartening. A director of his caliber, who has delivered consistently, now finds himself in a completely cluless situation about what to direct next. In his entire career, he has delivered only one flop: Acharya with Chiranjeevi. Out of six films, the rest -Mirchi, Srimanthudu, Janatha Garage, Bharat Ane Nenu, and Devara -were all commercial successes, ranging from super hits to blockbusters.
Koratala Siva was never interested in directing a senior star, but circumstances led him to Chiranjeevi after his original project with Ram Charan was postponed due to RRR. The result, unfortunately was Acharya, and that remains the only black mark in an otherwise stellar record.
Today, the same director, once chased by top heroes faces the reality of no tier-one hero being available for his next project. His body of work remains impressive, yet the lack of available stars creates a real dilemma. In the mass-market segment, Balakrishna appears to be the only fitting choice for Koratala Siva to stage a strong comeback, given his style of commercial filmmaking. But even Balakrishna is currently committed to his next project with Gopichand Malineni.
It’s a challenging puzzle, especially for a director with a proven track record and high expectations. This is arguably the saddest phase in his otherwise remarkable career.
