LEO: Tamil Nadu Political Situation Similar To AP

In a curious turn of events, all districts in Tamil Nadu have formed a special task force dedicated to enforcing Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film, “Leo.”

This move involves scheduling only five shows daily, from 9 AM to 1:30 AM. What’s more, ticket prices are forced to be maintained at government-fixed rates.

This situation mirrors a similar unfortunate incident in Andhra Pradesh, where actor and politician Pawan Kalyan faced similar challenges during the releases of his films, “Bheemla Nayak” and “Vakeel Saab.”

Back then, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, reportedly interfered with cinema halls and theaters to create hurdles for Kalyan’s films due to their political rivalry.

Regulations on ticket prices were strictly enforced, and police and revenue officials were deployed to monitor theater operations, resulting in theater shutdowns due to unaffordable ticket prices for patrons.

The situation in both states raises concerns about the allocation of valuable resources by state governments to control movies and fan celebrations. The governments are simply wasting taxpayers’ money to satisfy the ego of their ministers.

Some speculate that these actions might be politically motivated, as Vijay contemplates the launch of his own political party, potentially posing a challenge to the current government in the 2026 elections.
