Devi Sri Prasad vs Anirudh

Anirudh Ravichander is currently the most in-demand music director from South Indian cinema. He is juggling multiple projects in Tollywood, Bollywood, and Kollywood, but there is growing concern that he is prioritizing Tamil films over Telugu projects.

His commitment to Tamil movies seems solid, while Telugu filmmakers are facing delays due to his busy schedule.

One such case is The Paradise, starring Nani, for which Anirudh is composing the music. Director Srikanth Odela has already prepared the launch promo, but the team is still waiting for Anirudh’s background score.

The same situation occurred with Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri’s VD12. Despite having a good rapport with the director, Anirudh’s tight schedule has led to a delay in the title teaser. Similarly, another project by Gowatam, Magic, is also in line for his music.

The main concern now is that if promos are getting delayed, things might become even more complicated when it comes to re-recording during the final stages of these films.

Recently, reports emerged that Balakrishna-Gopichand Malineni and Chiranjeevi-Srikanth Odela’s upcoming projects have also approached Anirudh for music. However, he has not given a confirmation yet.

With major Tamil films like Jailer 2, Coolie, Jana Nayagan, and Indian 3 already in his lineup, it remains to be seen how much time he can allocate for Telugu projects. For now, Tollywood directors are patiently waiting for his availability.

Adding to the concerns is Anirudh’s recent track record in Tamil. His background scores and albums for Vidaamuyarchi, Vettaiyan, and Indian 2 were disasters. Even in Devara, his work did not match his previous best.

This raises the question—if Anirudh is delivering mediocre music in Tamil, why are Telugu producers expecting something extraordinary? Is his brand value now bigger than the films themselves?

Meanwhile, Devi Sri Prasad has proven his longevity with Thandel. Despite the film being average, his songs and BGM were its biggest strengths. His recent work shows he still has what it takes to dominate for another 4-5 years.

Instead of chasing Tamil composers who don’t seem to prioritize the Telugu industry, filmmakers should focus on homegrown talent that understands the pulse of Telugu cinema.
