The Paradise: Netflix Forcing Nani into a Risky Release?

Nani in The Paradise release update

Nani’s much-awaited film The Paradise is sure to miss its originally announced August 21 release date. While the makers are now reportedly looking at a September release, there is growing uncertainty about whether even that timeline is realistic.

According to industry buzz, Netflix has acquired the film’s digital rights for a substantial amount and is keen on seeing the project arrive in theatres in September. Sources suggest that the OTT deal includes certain release-related conditions, making another major postponement undesirable for all parties involved.

This has reportedly put additional pressure on director Srikanth Odela and his team, who are now working aggressively to complete the remaining portions of the film.

The problem, however, is the amount of work still left.

Industry sources indicate that nearly 60 days of shooting are still pending. For a film mounted on this scale, wrapping up production is only one part of the challenge. Extensive post-production work, including editing, dubbing, background score, sound design, VFX, and final mastering, will also require significant time.

That is why many within the trade are wondering whether the makers should prioritize a deadline or prioritize the film itself.

The interesting aspect is that The Paradise probably does not need to worry too much about opening numbers anymore. The recently released Aaya Sher song has become a chartbuster, and the film is carrying huge buzz. Combined with the success of Dasara, the mystery surrounding the story, and Nani’s growing market, the film is almost guaranteed to open strongly whenever it releases.

The real battle is not the opening. It is delivering a film that lives up to the enormous expectations.

If September becomes impossible without compromising quality, will Nani and Srikanth Odela bow down to Netflix’s pressure and somehow force the film out, or will they take more time and release it only when it is fully ready?

The next few weeks could provide the answer.
