The Indian Armed Forces have requested public living along the border to refrain from shooting videos of the movement of armed forces. They requested the people to stop posting any videos showing movements of the Armed Forces.

As the situation is grim, any disclosure over social media can give away vital information to enemy country. Hence, the Army is requesting people to hold back either due to fear or excitement.

The army warned people from capturing who is leading the operation, what weapons are being used, what routes are being taken. They specifically advised not to share reels. They asked not to give out any information during lockout time.

As there is excitement among people along the border to capture the happenings and posting them online to share with public of India, the Armed Forces have issued warnings to stop such activity, as it could reach Pakistan.

Also, there is a lot of misinformation that is being shared ever since the Pahalgam attack took place. Fake news, information and videos are also being circulated as a part of propaganda. These are being posted on X, Facebook and Insta accounts by Indian citizens, without doing fact checks.

To know if the information received is right or wrong, PIP has issued a phone number and email ID. Public are advised to send screenshots and videos to PIP to check validity to know if they can be posted. Anyone interested can call or share on whatsapp number 8799711259. A email ID has also been given factcheck@pip.gov.in.

After knowing if it’s true, only then can it be posted or shared.

Meanwhile, the government has asked X and Meta to ban accounts posting misinformation. It has given a list of 8000 accounts to X and another list to Meta that owns Facebook and Whatsapp. A particular account that goes with the name Muslim which is operated from UAE has been made inaccessible in India by Meta following government request.




On the other hand, Pakistan is also spreading misinformation through social media. So, it is important to stay away from passing and viewing misinformation.
