Drug raids have become frequent in Hyderabad in recent times. Despite strict surveillance, drug peddlers continue to use innovative methods to smuggle narcotics into the city. With the New Year approaching, the narcotics and police departments have intensified monitoring across key areas.

The arrest of a BTech student has created concern in the city. Acting on specific inputs, the Madhapur SOT detained a student from a private engineering college. Investigations revealed he was bringing MDMA into Hyderabad ahead of New Year celebrations.

Police found that the drugs were sourced from Bengaluru. At the time of arrest, 6gm of MDMA was recovered from the student. Officials believe he planned to supply drugs in large quantities during New Year parties across the city.

Further inquiry is underway to identify the suppliers and the network involved. Police have clearly stated that all New Year parties must remain drug free. Club and pub owners have been instructed to closely monitor activities and ensure compliance with the rules.

Along with law and order police, Eagle teams will also be deployed this year. Authorities have directed organisers not to sell tickets beyond venue capacity. Strict checks will be conducted to prevent any untoward incidents.

Police have made it mandatory to obtain prior permission if celebrities attend New Year Eve events. Minors will not be allowed at parties. Surprise raids are planned on December 31 to enforce these measures.

Revellers have been advised to avoid driving after consuming alcohol. Parents have been asked to ensure minors remain indoors on December 31 night. Drink and drive checks will be intensified, and those caught will be sent to jail, police warned.
