YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused authorities of conducting Pulivendula elections in a highly irregular manner, alleging polling booths were shifted as part of a conspiracy. He demanded the immediate release of CCTV and webcasting footage from all booths to the public.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the former CM questioned the legitimacy of the Pulivendula polls, asking, “Pulivendula lo jarigindi ennikena?” He alleged that outsiders were allowed to vote while heavy police presence intimidated local voters.
Jagan claimed that in six panchayats, 700 police officers were deployed, with 500 non-locals casting votes in each booth. He accused BTech Ravi, a non-local, of staying in Pulivendula to influence the process, likening the election to a “dacoit gang operation.”
He further alleged that rigging occurred openly in Pulivendula and Ontimitta, even in front of the district Collector. According to Jagan, police oversaw the malpractice while ensuring no YSRCP polling agents were allowed inside voting booths.
Jagan stressed that polling agents play a key role in verifying voter slips and identifying fake voters, but this election was conducted without them. He described it as a rare case of polls held without representation from a major party.
Challenging CM Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan demanded that Pulivendula elections be cancelled and re-conducted under Central forces. He said over 4,000 voters were affected due to sudden changes in polling booth locations.
