While the Telangana Speaker is yet to complete disqualification inquiries, several leaders who left BRS after it lost power are now seeking a return. Aruri Lakshman, who had joined the BJP, is rejoining BRS in the presence of KTR.
Aruri Lakshman had earlier announced his decision to return. He is not alone in this move. Several former BRS leaders, MLAs, and key figures are trying to re enter the party, citing internal conflicts within the Congress and dissatisfaction among recent entrants.
After BRS lost power, many leaders shifted to the BJP and Congress. Now, their return has lifted the morale of BRS cadre. Earlier defections shocked KCR, but the political atmosphere in Telangana has changed significantly in recent weeks.
Party insiders say many leaders felt uncomfortable after switching sides and now want to return home. BRS is also keen to check the growth of BJP and Congress. The party has begun a clear ghar wapsi process for defectors.
Aruri Lakshman is the first to return, and sources say Gudem Mahipal Reddy may follow. He reportedly faced resistance from old Congress leaders. He also refused to remove KCR’s picture from his office, fuelling rumours of his return.
Similar issues are reported with Gadwal MLA Krishnamohan Reddy. After joining Congress, he faced constituency level problems and later saw his disqualification dismissed. He is now said to be exploring a return to BRS.
Jagityal MLA, who joined Congress on June 23, 2024, in the presence of Revanth Reddy, is also facing internal differences. Veteran leader Jeevan Reddy reportedly disagrees with him, prompting thoughts of returning to BRS.
The situation is similar for Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah and Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud. Differences with Congress leaders and pressure from cadre have pushed both to reaffirm their loyalty to BRS.
Former MLAs Sanampudi Saidireddy and Bethi Subhash Reddy, who joined the BJP, are also looking to return. With no positions and weak cadre support, they now prefer a comeback to the car party.
Khanapur ex MLA Rani Nayak and Asifabad ex MLA Aatram Sakku are also on the return list after limited growth in Congress. Zaheerabad ex MP Bibi Patel and ex MP Venkatesh Neta are also preparing to rejoin BRS.
Sources say the path has been cleared for all these leaders to return to BRS.
