Actress vs Auto Driver, Viral Video Sparks Outrage

Priya Bakshi Mumbai auto safety scare

In busy cities like Mumbai, women often face daily situations that challenge personal safety. Crowded roads and late night travel can turn routine journeys unpredictable. These experiences underline the urgent need for stronger vigilance across urban transport systems.

Actress Priya Bakshi recently shared a disturbing incident on social media that drew wide attention. On February 14, while returning home late at night from Bandra in an auto rickshaw, the driver took a route that did not match Google Maps.

Priya repeatedly asked the driver to stop as she felt unsafe. He refused and insisted, saying, “Map mein route nahi bata raha hai, yehi sahi raasta hai.” Her anxiety grew as the ride continued on an unfamiliar road.

The video she recorded soon went viral, including on News24’s X. It shows her panic as the argument escalated, with the driver eventually stopping but allegedly making derogatory remarks about North Indians.

The incident raised concerns about regional bias adding to a woman’s distress during an already frightening situation. While Priya’s presence of mind helped bring attention to the issue, it also exposed gaps in passenger safety.

The episode has renewed calls for stricter driver verification and better monitoring of autos and taxis. Real time tracking and faster complaint response systems could prevent such incidents and ensure safer commutes.

Social platforms that amplify these accounts play a crucial role in demanding accountability. Until stronger safeguards are in place, women remain forced to rely on alertness even during simple rides home.
